Bringing a Busy McDonald's Sign Back to Life

A sign is the first thing a driver sees, and for a fast food spot on a busy road it works like a silent salesman every hour of the day. When part of that sign goes dark, the business starts to fade into the background. Here is how we brought one back to life.

The Challenge

A McDonald's location sits at a busy corner where thousands of cars pass each day. Part of the lit pole sign had gone dark, which made the spot harder to see for hungry drivers looking for a quick stop. At night the problem was even worse, since a half lit sign can make a busy store look closed. The sign also stands high up on a tall pole, well out of reach from the ground, so this was not a fix anyone could make with a simple ladder. On top of that, the store could not afford to shut down its lot for the day while the work got done.

Our Work

Our crew rolled in with a bucket truck made to reach signs that sit high off the ground. First we set up in a safe spot and blocked off our work area so traffic and customers stayed clear. A trained electrician then went up in the bucket to get a close look at the sign and the power running to it. We checked the wiring, the lighting, and the connections to find the real cause of the dark spot, not just the part that showed. Once we knew the problem, we made the repair right there from the bucket and tested the sign to be sure every part lit up the way it should. The whole job was done from the truck, so the drive through and the lot stayed open the entire time. Cars kept rolling in while we worked overhead.

The Result

The sign is bright again and easy to spot from far down the road, day or night. The store gets full use of its sign, and drivers can find it with one quick glance instead of driving past. The fix was fast, clean, and left no mess behind, and the business never had to close its doors to get it done. A bright sign means more eyes, more stops, and more sales for a spot that lives on drive by traffic.
